Trxcom builds medical-grade connectivity hardware for equipment that touches a patient. That means IEC 60601-1 compliant MagJacks and LAN transformers delivering 4,000–5,000 V AC reinforced isolation at under 10 µA patient leakage, plus galvanically isolating optical modules for surgical and imaging systems. Medical OEMs use these parts to keep electrosurgical RF, ground loops and ESD away from patients while 4K surgical video keeps flowing with zero added latency.
Standard Ethernet magnetics and copper links cannot satisfy IEC 60601-1 isolation, so they create patient shock hazards, RF desense from electrosurgical knives, and ground loops across theater equipment. This is why medical equipment connectivity calls for purpose-built medical-grade components instead of commercial networking parts.
Trxcom medical-grade MagJacks, LAN transformers, optical transceivers and SFP cages are grouped into four clinical architectures: surgical robotics, handheld visualization tools, intensive care monitoring, and diagnostic imaging suites.
Ultra-compact, low-heat optical transceivers and active optical cables (AOC) tailored for handheld 4K/3D laparoscopes, arthroscopes, and robotic wrist articulators requiring zero-delay visualization.
Heavy-duty, ESU-immune 25G/40G transceivers and multi-gang beryllium copper shielded cages interconnecting master robotic consoles, multi-arm slave carts, and live 8K OR video distribution hubs.
Integrated MagJacks and discrete medical LAN transformers providing dual means of patient protection (2×MOPP) for bedside monitors, telemetry nodes, ventilators, and defibrillators.
Specialized non-magnetic brass cages and CWDM/DWDM high-capacity optical links penetrating MRI Faraday cage waveguides to stream raw detector imaging data without inducing field distortion.
Every medical part number ships with full lot traceability, RoHS and REACH compliance, and a medical safety documentation pack covering IEC 60601-1 isolation evidence.

Direct answers to the isolation, safety and lifecycle questions medical OEMs raise most often before design freeze.
2×MOPP (two Means Of Patient Protection) is the reinforced isolation level defined in IEC 60601-1 3rd and 4th edition. It requires two independent isolation barriers so a single fault cannot expose a patient to mains voltage. Trxcom medical MagJacks and LAN transformers use triple insulated wire and maintain at least 8.2 mm creepage and clearance to hold patient leakage current below 10 µA while the Ethernet port stays connected to hospital infrastructure.
An optical link breaks the copper path entirely, so there is no galvanic connection between the master console and the patient-side cart. That removes the ground-loop and common-mode conduction paths that high-frequency electrosurgical units exploit when they arc, and it lets the C-arm, endoscopy tower and robot arm float on independent mains. Trxcom 10G and 25G medical optical modules keep the video path uncompressed, so a 4K surgical feed arrives with sub-100 ns latency.
For handheld scopes the constraint is power and size, so a 10G SFP+ BIDI module in the sub-0.8 W class is the usual fit. For a robotic console interconnecting several arms over 5 to 30 metres, a 25G SFP28 or 40G QSFP+ module with SFF-8472 DDM is preferred so link health can be logged continuously. Both options are galvanically isolating; the difference is bandwidth, reach budget and thermal headroom.
Inside a 1.5T or 3.0T bore, ferromagnetic nickel-plated cages and iron-core magnetics become projectiles and locally distort field homogeneity, which produces image artifacts. Trxcom SFP cages are machined from brass and phosphor bronze with a relative permeability of approximately 1.0, so they can be mounted at the Faraday cage feedthrough without disturbing the magnet.
Medical OEMs must notify regulators of component changes, so an unannounced silicon or magnetics revision can force an expensive 510(k) or CE re-submission. Trxcom commits to a 7 to 10 year form-fit-function freeze on medical part numbers with a controlled Product Change Notification process under ISO 13485, so the part you qualified remains the part you buy.
Tell us the equipment classification (type B, BF or CF), the working voltage and required dielectric withstand, the connector form factor and above-PCB height budget, the data rate, and your enclosure constraints. Trxcom returns an isolation data pack, IEC 60601-1 test evidence and 3D STEP models for prototype fit checks.
Trxcom supplies the same magnetics, cages and optical platforms across telecom, data center and consumer networking. Compare the architectures closest to your project.
